My "career path" jogged from forest products exporting to elementary school teaching.  Now I'm tasting the fruit of discretionary time:  lots of jazz piano, cycling, yoga, backpacking, gardening, cooking, and enjoying the company of family and friends.  These reunions every five years continue to amaze me with everyone's vitality and unique life stories.

Retired Married 2020-04-01 15:08:15
Like most of you, I'm fully retired and doing things I never seemed to have time for . . . or even thought of. My wife, Patricia and I are active in Community Theaters, giving a hand to the local Historic Society, travel and making plans for even 'bigger' trips, Skiing (before the snow is all gone), and working around our 'acerage' with a creek running through it, an hour out of New York City. I'm not sure where we'll end up in our 'later' years, but this region has so much to offer and experience now and in the near future. I fear Corona will give this reunion more than just a little headache. I trust everyone who can will show up and exchange life's great experiences, large and small. Since out last reunion My family has grown some and lost many. I have 4 daughters and 4 son-in-laws. I now have 14 grandchildren. Two of those is a granddaughter in-laws (but I love both with all my heart), two are great grand children, two grandchildren are in heaven (1 still born, Richard, the other died in a fall Septemeber of 2015, he was 8yrs old). I also have, unofficially, adopted two exchange daughters and a whole lot of family from Kenya. When we have get togethers they are BIG.

I worked for about 25 years with at risk youth. In vering places. I retired 2013 to travel and spend time With my husband, Dan. We made two big road trips before he passes away on March 2, 2018. It's been a bit of an adjustment, but I'm learning.

Although my family has had some very rough spots in the last 5 years we still stand in Gods grace. Some of you knew my mother, Velda. She passed away three years ago August, and my little sister. Debbie, die suddenly January of that same year. My dad, Gene, has also passed away eight months after Dan. So you can see we had some difficult years.

I have a wonderful church family who is very supportive, I volunteer at an after school program, called The Gate, On Thursday. It's for high And middle schoolers. I love it. I do the craft table. I enjoying traveling. I just made my first solo trip on the plane to Sacramento, and took the train back. It was a short trip but, a great adventure.

life will never be normal for me. Dan and I were married 46 years, and we told each other I love you ever day, even on the day he died. I'm very thankful for that. Do not wait to use those word. Say them as often as possible to those you love. They need to know.
