Happily married and rewtired from the medical field after 32 years.  We sold our home in Portland 2 years ago after 30 years and moved to our beach house,  intending to relocate in the Portland area.  Needless to say we got caught in all the pandemic  chaos and have realized we don't want to live in Portland anymore, we love the beach life!! Greetings class of 1970!
I hope this finds you all in good health.
My family is all doing well, in spite of the pandemic.
I have been retired for 7 years now. We were planning on doing much more than we actually have done due to some major health issues. So we've been content with fishing, deer hunting, crabbing, and I've also been canning and making driftwood collages. (I included a picture of a couple of collages)Of course we have our own garden which takes up my time as well. Basically we've stuck around home. Covid restrictions did play into that, of course. Now that restrictions are lifted, we are planning on a road trip to see family in Oklahoma.
Time flies by so quickly. Where on earth did 51 years go? Take care of yourselves, my friends and hopefully we will all be around for our 60th reunion.

Retired Business Owner & Grams Married 2 2021-08-18 14:44:13
Hello to the LO Class of 1970 -- Thank for allowing me to celebrate with you.  I went to Lake Grove GS and Waluga JH, then moved to Eugene. Other than 3 yrs of high school there, I still considered LO to be my home town since 1956, when my brother, Kip, and I were adopted from Korea. I met Gordon Stoutt (LO 1968) before leaving LO, and we kept in touch until I moved back the day after graduating. Gordon and I were married, and will celebrate our 51st anniversary on Oct 9.  LO has been a great place to live, raise our 2 children, babysit 3 grandkids, and operated our Executive Suites business for 33 yrs.

While the kids were young, I started the business at home, typing term papers for college students, and projects for small businesses. The business outgrew my kitchen table, so we moved into commercial office space, and later expanded to Executive Suites (renting small offices to CPAs, attorneys, consultants, startup businesses, sales reps for larger companies), plus offered a wide range of support services (receptionist, conference facility, telephone answering & voice mail, postage, mail & shipping handling. secretarial services, Notary, special projects, supplies, etc.).  Over the years, we saw many changes and challenges. When it became evident rental rates to us were increasing, at the same time, our sub-tenants wanted deeper discounts and had more options to shop, creating
a no win situation. We decided it was time to close the business in the fall of 2012, and retired in 2013. We moved to Sherwood, where our daughter, Kami's family lived, and much closer to watch lacrosse & football games. Our son, Kenny's, family also live nearby.

Retirement is great, but I needed to stay busy.  I started volunteering half days Tues & Thurs for the Sherwood HS Media Center; sometimes subbed; and half day Wed at the Sherwood Police Dept. It was enjoyable, nice people, and flexible hours … until granddaughter, Mabel, arrived in Mar 2017.  I still volunteer some for the Police Dept, but my new volunteer task became babysitting "Mabes" while her parents work; she's now 4.5 yrs old, and I've enjoyed every moment!

So sorry I am unable to attend the 50-51 Class Reunion, but Covid-19 hit our family last Nov, with Kim getting the worse case; spending 97 days in the hospital (Dec 3 to Mar 10).  The first 2 months I was sedated, and my family, doctors & nurses had to fill me in on the scary medical timeline. The 3rd month was recovery; regaining strength, physical therapy & getting oxygen level weaned down before going home. (KOIN & I KGW did homecoming stories). No matter the long journey, I was lucky, and continue to improve. I'm still tethered to oxygen, and decided the tanks, walker & air lines were too cumbersome for a crowded room.  Hope you all have a great time, and many happy, wonderful years of retirement -- Kim (Babb) Stoutt

Since our last reunion My family has grown some and lost many. I have 4 daughters and 4 son-in-laws. I now have 15 grandchildren. Two of those are granddaughter in-laws (but I love both with all my heart), three are great grand children, two grandchildren are in heaven (1 still born, Richard, the other died in a fall Septemeber of 2015, he was 8yrs old). I also have, unofficially, adopted two exchange daughters and a whole lot of family from Kenya. When we have get togethers they are BIG.

I worked for about 25 years with at risk youth. In vering places. I retired 2013 to travel and spend time With my husband, Dan. We made two big road trips before he passes away on March 2, 2018. It's been a bit of an adjustment, but I'm learning.

Although my family has had some very rough spots in the last 6 years we still stand in Gods grace. Some of you knew my mother, Velda. She passed away 4 years ago August, and my little sister. Debbie, die suddenly January of that same year. My dad, Gene, has also passed away eight months after Dan. So you can see we had some difficult years.

I have a wonderful church family who is very supportive, I volunteer at an after school program, called The Gate 3 days a week. It's for high And middle schoolers. I love it. I do the craft table. I enjoy traveling. I will be taking 3 of my grandchildren on a train trip from Salem, OR to Sacromento, CA in July. It will be a short trip, but a fun one I am sure.

Life will never be normal for me. Dan and I were married 46 years, and we told each other I love you ever day. I'm very thankful for that. Do not wait to use those word. Say them as often as possible to those you love. They need to know.

It is hard to believe that WE have been out of high school for 50 years!  We cant be that old, can we? I have been married to Tom Willing for 45 years, have two grown sons, and two grandkids...Fiona and Thorvald.  I retired from teaching high school art at David Douglas High School in 2011, and have been working as a watercolor artist ever since.  Tom and I show our work (he is a wood-turner) whenever possible.  We live in Lake Oswego and enjoy hiking, baking, gardening and hanging out with family.  Every summer, we spend time at our family cabin in Montana, not far from Glacier National Park.

Since retiring, I have been fortunate enough to travel to Nicaragua, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Italy, Norway, Iceland and Greenland.  Each trip provides me with plenty of painting ideas, in addition to feeding my soul.  We live on an amazing planet!

I have been reading everyone's stories, and am blown away by the exciting and full lives you all are living.  I can't wait to see you in 2021...for our belated 50th reunion.  I hope to see you all there!

Hi, everyone. I've enjoyed reading how people have spent their lives since LO HS graduation. Looking forward to seeing you all again! I spent most of my professional life as an ASL instructor/interpreter/interpreter educator at various colleges and universities—mostly Western Oregon University, where I worked for 14 years. I retired from interpreting at age 64. Over the past 20+ years, I have also branched out into authoring/publishing. I've written and published 9 fiction titles for pre-teens, teens and young adults and am working on more. Along the way I also learned Russian and some Romanian for ministry purposes and have visited both countries on short-term missions trips with my family. My wife and I just celebrated 38 years of marriage. She has been an ASL interpreter as well and for the past 15 years has worked as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) with her own private practice. We have four wonderful grandchildren ranging from 9 months to 5 years. Some of you may remember my father, Calvin Burt, who taught math at LO Jr. High School and ultimately left that position to teach survival schools for the military. He is 91 now and living in a memory care facility. Mom passed in 2018 at the age of 88. God bless you all! Send Bill a MessageSend Bill a Message

Geez….where to start….Upon graduation from LOHS, I went to the University of Oregon to study and play football. And loved my time there doing both. During the summer prior to my senior year, I made the decision that I needed to concentrate on academics, so upon the completion of my football eligibility in the fall of 1973, I left Eugene and moved back to Portland. I had pre-enrolled at Lewis & Clark College, and stayed thru the end of 1974; completing my degrees in Business and U.S. History. I also did my student teaching the spring 73’ at Lakeridge High School under the guidance of Keith Hurdstrom. You might remember him at LOHS. Not finding a teaching/coaching job to my liking….I went to work in the business world, and have been there ever since.
I’ve spent the last 40+ years in the freight transportation industry; concentrating in the Sales & Marketing arena for many years. Beginning in the Tug & Barge industry in Portland, I then managed the Sales & Marketing on the west coast for CSX Transportation, the largest railroad east of the Mississippi River. I enjoyed both immensely, but with the deregulation of the industry, the time felt right to launch out on my own….and I did, starting my own company in 1990, serving as a contractor/consultant in the Strategic Planning, Sustainable Planning, and Sales & Marketing areas mostly for small, family owned companies; primarily in the Trucking industry. It has been extremely rewarding, and today I continue to have one client that I work with about 15 hours/week.
That said….after living in both Portland and Seattle, we left the PNW for sunny (sometimes hot) AZ in 2015-16. Having a lake house in Chelan, WA; we thought we’d snowbird, but forest fire smoke forced us away from that idea. And today we are full timers in a gated, 3 golf course community in Goodyear, AZ. And absolutely love it. Pebble Creek has all of the amenities one could ask for, and we are grateful to be able to live this life. I’d say come visit us, but I’d be heartbroken by the lack of takers.
We love traveling, both domestically and internationally. And generally plan additional time away from AZ during the summers back to the PNW to see family and friends.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the 50th. Till then, all the very best.

Hello Classmates!   Today is June 10, 2020, in the middle or end of this coronavirus quarantine.  I've been retired since 2018.  I have continued to stay involved in community theatre, mostly playing piano, and loving it.  Our summer show was put on hold but now we're moving forward in Phase 2.  My granddaughter is involved in the musical, Matilda. (Like Grandmother, like granddaughter!). Love that girl!  I have kept in close touch with Cheri Pickens Weaver; visiting, texting, emailing.  She is one busy retired alum!  I'm disappointed that we aren't meeting this year...hopefully we'll be able to rejoin in 2021.  Yes, we're getting older. I look at my pictures in the past and heave a huge sigh but then I think we're all in the same boat!  Thank goodness for that!! Update your profiles so I can read about you and feel free to contact me.  That would be lovely!
Till we meet again, Luanne

Now it's 2021.  Still active in theater and I'm happy to say that I received a Lifetime Achievement award from our local theater, Little Theatre On The Bay.  What an exciting and fun evening we had with family and friends!  I am blessed to be able to continue with my music.  Hoping to see lots of people at the reunion!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.  My life has been great over the last 50 years.  Julie and I just had our 48th wedding anniversity.  Both of my sons are working in the family business in Bend, OR.   Pinecone business is still booming as we are now shipping to over 3,000 major grocery stores in 40 states.  Projecting to sell over 15 million pinecones this year - are you kidding me! Have pretty much retired from the day to day aspects but still keeping an eye on the money - you know how those kids are. Julie and I still living in Tucson and over the last five years have become a couple of "those" RV guys.  Other than the pandamic year had been traveling all the western states for the summers with stops in central Oregon for a month or so - totally fell in love with Montana.  Good excuse to get out of the brutal Tucson summers.  Have two grandchildren, our health and a solid family base.  About as good as it gets. Tim and I are celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary this year. We built our beach house in Pacific City in 2018 and are fortunate to have children and grand children close enough to come whenever they want. We seem to be spending more and more time there than at our home in Tigard.

Our dog Jake and I enjoyed competing in Agiliy Trials for many years. Current hobbies include: gardening, art projects and creations, cooking, reading, sewing, watching the grandkids sporting events etc., and all the fun things there are to do at the beach.
