Hi classmates,
I'm celebrating my 45th wedding anniversary this year which is amazing considering I got married a few months after graduation. My 18 year old grandson will be graduating this year and his 16 year old brother will be a junior next year.  I have a 3 year old granddaughter and a year old grandson. Needless to say, my grandkids keep me hopping. I retired from the Troutdale Police Department after 20 years of service.  No, of course I wasn't a cop, but I was one of the support staff for all those years.
I now hang out with my "old man" and dabble with my art supplies and do some fun cooking and baking. I am also going out on our boat to do some crabbing and fishing. Basically I am finally kicking back and enjoying life.

What have I been doing for the last 5 decades?  Good question!
I got married to my husband Bob the end of August 1970. We are still together after all these years. I didn't work for about ten years while raising my son Todd and daughter Lisa. That was quite a job. All good things must end so I reentered the working world in 1980 and worked in within the Reynolds school district five years and spent another five working as an accountant for a landscaping company. After succumbing to budget cuts I was hired by the City of Troutdale to work as a support person for the Troutdale Police Dept. This is where I stayed for the next 20 years until retiring. Bob had already retired from Reynolds Metals (Alcoa) years before me. I thought we'd have all sorts of time on our hands but found we were busier than we were while working. We've got four grandkids. My son's boys are 23 and 21. My daughter's son is 6 and her daughter is 8. They keep us busy but we don't mind.
I've lived a fairly simple life.  Bob and I both have health issues. Somebody had to keep these doctors busy. We're still in the same house that we bought back in 1975. We use to bowl and go white water rafting for entertainment until our backs caught up with us. We go deer hunting and crabbing and boating nowadays. I'm into building terrariums and making collages out of driftwood. We also have our garden where I grow all my ingredients for salsa. I do lots of canning throughout the year too as well as making elk and venison jerky.  Of course we see a lot of our kids and their families. Since Bob had a quadruple bypass surgery last August, we're keeping our golden anniversary low keyed. However we are looking forward to an Alaskan cruise next year.

Since out last reunion My family has grown some and lost many. I have 4 daughters and 4 son-in-laws. I now have 14 grandchildren. Two of those is a granddaughter in-laws (but I love both with all my heart), two are great grand children, two grandchildren are in heaven (1 still born, Richard, the other died in a fall Septemeber of 2015, he was 8yrs old). I also have, unofficially, adopted two exchange daughters and a whole lot of family from Kenya. When we have get togethers they are BIG.

I worked for about 25 years with at risk youth. In vering places. I retired 2013 to travel and spend time With my husband, Dan. We made two big road trips before he passes away on March 2, 2018. It's been a bit of an adjustment, but I'm learning.

Although my family has had some very rough spots in the last 5 years we still stand in Gods grace. Some of you knew my mother, Velda. She passed away three years ago August, and my little sister. Debbie, die suddenly January of that same year. My dad, Gene, has also passed away eight months after Dan. So you can see we had some difficult years.

I have a wonderful church family who is very supportive, I volunteer at an after school program, called The Gate, On Thursday. It's for high And middle schoolers. I love it. I do the craft table. I enjoying traveling. I just made my first solo trip on the plane to Sacramento, and took the train back. It was a short trip but, a great adventure.

life will never be normal for me. Dan and I were married 46 years, and we told each other I love you ever day, even on the day he died. I'm very thankful for that. Do not wait to use those word. Say them as often as possible to those you love. They need to know.

I have enjoyed living in LO since 1981 with my husband and two sons.  After spending 11 years selling real estate, I returned to my true calling of teaching Art (at David Douglas High School).  Since retiring in 2011, I have focused on my watercolor painting and spending time with my three year old granddaughter, Fiona.  It will be great to reconnect with everyone at the reunion! Geez….where to start….Upon graduation from LOHS, I went to the University of Oregon to study and play football. And loved my time there doing both. During the summer prior to my senior year, I made the decision that I needed to concentrate on academics, so upon the completion of my football eligibility in the fall of 1973, I left Eugene and moved back to Portland. I had pre-enrolled at Lewis & Clark College, and stayed thru the end of 1974; completing my degrees in Business and U.S. History. I also did my student teaching the spring 73’ at Lakeridge High School under the guidance of Keith Hurdstrom. You might remember him at LOHS. Not finding a teaching/coaching job to my liking….I went to work in the business world, and have been there ever since.
I’ve spent the last 40+ years in the freight transportation industry; concentrating in the Sales & Marketing arena for many years. Beginning in the Tug & Barge industry in Portland, I then managed the Sales & Marketing on the west coast for CSX Transportation, the largest railroad east of the Mississippi River. I enjoyed both immensely, but with the deregulation of the industry, the time felt right to launch out on my own….and I did, starting my own company in 1990, serving as a contractor/consultant in the Strategic Planning, Sustainable Planning, and Sales & Marketing areas mostly for small, family owned companies; primarily in the Trucking industry. It has been extremely rewarding, and today I continue to have one client that I work with about 15 hours/week.
That said….after living in both Portland and Seattle, we left the PNW for sunny (sometimes hot) AZ in 2015-16. Having a lake house in Chelan, WA; we thought we’d snowbird, but forest fire smoke forced us away from that idea. And today we are full timers in a gated, 3 golf course community in Goodyear, AZ. And absolutely love it. Pebble Creek has all of the amenities one could ask for, and we are grateful to be able to live this life. I’d say come visit us, but I’d be heartbroken by the lack of takers.
We love traveling, both domestically and internationally. And generally plan additional time away from AZ during the summers back to the PNW to see family and friends.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the 50th. Till then, all the very best.

Hello Classmates!   I've lived in Coos Bay since I graduated from OSU and my second son lives here with his wife and two children.  My first son lives in New Mexico with wife, daughter and new baby son.  I've worked at Bay Area Hospital going on 35 years.  My hobbies still involve music and theater.  We just finished a musical review entitled "A Salute to Broadway" where I played the piano, sang a song and my daughter-in-law sang, along with my 7-year-old granddaughter; her first show!  That was the most fun for me!  I took up the violin again after not playing for 30 years. Now there was a challenge!  I've been on the board of our local theater for almost 20 years; I've seen many changes.  My grandchildren give me the most pleasure these days but music continues to keep me sane.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of you very soon!

Got married to the love of my life Julie, our junior year at OSU.  Imagine putting up with me for 42 years - wow.  Have two sons, Riley (34) who is running the family company and Carson (29) who is playing bass in a touring rock band - Brothers Gow.  Moved from L.O. in 2004 to Tucson and love the desert lifestyle.  After all those years at Wizers in high school stayed in the food business working for a major northwest protein distributor and then a manufacturers rep for some lunchmeat compaines calling on corporate grocery chains.  Was approached by Albertsons in 1992 to produce a product they wanted to sell in their stores for the holidays - cinnamon  scented pinecones.  Other chains picked up on it and this year we will sell over 10 million cones  to about 2400 grocery stores in 39 states.  Have a warehouse in Bend and spend the summers up there watching my son work - very cool.  Hope to see ya all in August. Numerous years ago, I ran into John Rivenburgh and after reminiscing a bit, he told me the following story. When he went off to college, I think it was Colorado, he was asked about his home town. John told the group he lived in a small town in an old rain forest near a beauitful lake and  huge river where he hiked, swam, waterskied, fished, played all the sports, chased gorgeous girls and had the best ice cream in the world at a place called Newtons.  A hour west was the Pacific Ocean where he would go to eat fresh fish, surf, swim, explore, photograph and hike. An hour east were millions of acres of National forest including Mt. Hood were he would snow ski, sled, snowmoble, camp, hike, fish and horseback ride. Several of the other students remarked to John; "that you grew up in Paradise". I responded to John that when I went off to college in Utah (Gary Byer was eventually a roommate), I  experienced the exact same feedback from friends in Utah when I told them about Lake Oswego but they didn't believe me. They said there was no place like that on the earth and if it did exist it was in Europe near the Alps.
I grew up a block east of Lakewood elementary school on Church St. which was very close to the Willamette River, every day after school I was at George Rogers Park playing football, baseball, basketball  or exploring up and down the river or fishing with Tony Spears (I still have the scar Tony gave me in a bicycle accident when we crashed and burned), Brad Miller, John Rivenburgh, Brad Baldwin, Chris Stapleton, Joe Holec (Joe and I were born on the same day) and many others.  I experienced my first crushes on girls from a distance with Kim Boring, Janie Pittman, Cindy Reed, Nancy Curtain and many others.
My first job was delivering the Oregonian with Clayton Zeigler, and then moved on to work for Dr. Puterbaugh's animal clinic in Lake Grove (we moved to behind Uplands elementary) as a "super duper pooper scooper" with Bunnel, Craig Cliff, Tom Mittendorf and others. Then I  finally worked for Lee Woodard's Chervon gas station with Bob Cranwick and Tom McGinnis.
At LOHS, although I was short, and immature, (I did not go through puberty until the summer before our junior year I never experienced any bullying) the one time I saw bullying of another, Don Wilson and others put a stop to it immediately. I believe this is amazing in that there were some in the class that had disabilities. I think part of the greatness of the class is the gentle giants that were leading us including: Chuck Friezen, Lauri Hughes, Craig Falkenhagen, Carolyn Wilson, David Rock, Emily Crumpacker, Tom Sands , Tom Merlott and many many more.
I have traveled some in my life and I am oftened asked where I am from, and although I have lived 40 years in Utah, I always respond that I am from Lake Oswego, Oregon. One of the many regrets in life is that my four children can not say the same thing. Thanks to those who keep putting on these reunions for your time and service, thanks to Karen Wallace for your past articles in the Review, hope you are still doing them. It is good to remember. Best Wishes and may God bless you all!!!!

It is a wonderful gift that we made it to our 50th Highschool Reunion!  I have enjoyed every single one of them, but my favourite was our 30th, held at the Oswego Golf Club.  I am beyond excited that we will once again reunite at the golf club!
I will travel from Courtenay, BC to West Linn with my partner, Doug Yeomans and we will be staying at Terry and Sally Nelson's home in West Linn.  We plan on a trip to Seaside during our visit, as Doug has yet to enjoy that experience.
Looking back on the last 50 years, I have lost 2 husbands, but survived.  I have 5 wonderful grandchildren that I live right next door to.  I also enjoy Doug's  children and his 6 grandchildren.  Both of my daughters are happily married, with wonderful hubbies.  I have my health and enjoy curling in the winter and golfing and boating in the summer!  All in all I am very thankful for this wonderful life.
